Fort Lauderdale, Florida is an area with plenty of gorgeous beaches and a little something for pretty much any person. You can go on interesting adventures that include remarkable activities such as gondola rides, or even get lost in some truly addictive shopping opportunities. There’s plenty of great food around as well. If you’re in the area, here are some key places you should stop by:
1 – The Fort Lauderdale Beaches
Above all else, if you’re in Fort Lauderdale you need to make your way to the beach immediately. There are over 20 miles of amazingly beautiful beaches in the area, most of which have the Blue Wave Beach certification! Each beach in Fort Lauderdale is well kept, safe, and open to visitors. Activities such as sun bathing, surfing, wake boarding, or even some good old fashioned frisbee competitions are more than welcome, and the water is always gorgeous. One of the most notable is Pompano Beach, where the water is warm and amazingly clear. If you want a real getaway, you should center your entire trip around the beach!
2 – NSU Art Museum
Established in the late 1980s at Fort Lauderdale’s Art Center, this art museum has a dazzling array of modern and 20th-century artwork. Even the building itself has a truly modernist design that is nothing short of eye-catching. There are many exhibits inside with plenty of unique paintings, sculptures, and installations.
There are over 6,000 pieces in total, many of which also give a strong introduction to the culture of the surrounding area, and the Caribbean at large. There are even several pieces from famed artist Pablo Picasso here, as well as works from William Glackens and artifacts from the tomb of King Tut.
3 – The Parker Playhouse
Located on Southwest 5th Avenue, the Parker Playhouse is at the center of Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk, where arts and entertainment are at the forefront. This establishment has served the community for nearly 50 years now. It is a hub for the entirety of the culture of the area, with both the history and future given equal respect. It’s a place to both take in some amazing eye candy and even receives a bit of education. Any age group will find plenty here to marvel at, and if you’re lucky you may even be able to spot a Broadway level stage shows or musical performance going on when you stop by.
